Post Graduate MD Ophthalmology with National Academy of Medical Science (NAMS)
Post Graduate MD Ophthalmology was started at LEECS in affiliation with NAMS in 2015. Till 2025, 16 MD Ophthalmologists have completed their study and presently 8 are enrolled.
Bachelor in Optometry and Vision Science
Four-year Bachelor in Optometry and Vision Science (BOVS) Program was started at BEH since 2018 in collaboration with National Academy of Medical Science (NAMS). Advanced equipment’s, well-furnished clinical as well as non-clinical infrastructures and experienced teaching faculties are accessible for clinical exposure and better learning.
Diploma in Ophthalmic Science (DOS)
Ophthalmic Assistants (OAs) are the mid-level ophthalmic professionals. They perform eye examinations, diagnose most of ocular disorders, treat minor ocular disorders, practice refraction and prescribe eyeglasses/contact lenses, perform various investigative procedures, identify cases requiring specialist care and refer them to the ophthalmologists, assist the ophthalmologists in various types of ocular surgeries and other sophisticated procedures, perform minor extra ocular surgeries independently carry out pre-operative and post-operative care, provide eye health education and counseling, organize and manage eye camps and conduct other community outreach activities such as school eye health program, etc., run the eye care centers acting as an in charge and conduct community level primary eye care trainings.

Course Duration:
3 academic years. All the students are required to study basic science courses during the first year and clinical courses during subsequent two years.
Eligibility for application:
The candidates must have passed S.L.C or equivalent examination in at least has second division from a recognized institute with compulsory Mathematics, English, and Science subjects.

The quotas for scholarship, sponsorship, entrance examination, and selection criteria are as per the provision of the CTEVT rules and regulations.
Ophthalmic Assistants are regarded as the backbone of the eye care services in Nepal. To fulfill the required need for ophthalmic assistants for the expansion and development of eye care services, the Diploma in Ophthalmic Science (DOS) course was started in collaboration with Lahan Technical School, Lahan and SagarmathaChoudhary Eye Hospital, Lahan from 2015 to 2023.
Under this Sagarmatha Chaudhary Eye Hospital, Lahan School of Health Sciences has been established. Under it, the PCL in Ophthalmic Science program has been fully operational since 2080.
