Home Care Services

Despite of eye care centers and screening camps in community, the vulnerable population – the elderly, woman, children, and person with disabilities have no access to such service due to lack of awareness, accompanying person, and cost implied. Screening conducted at doorsteps are important initiatives towards strengthening Universal Eye Health Coverage in making quality eye and ear care service affordable and accessible for all. This has helped early detection and timely treatment of eye and ear related problems at community level and link the community to local level eye and ear care service centers.

Sunaulo Bihani

District Eye Health Program also called “Sunaulo Bihani” started with the aim to screen 50years and above age population at Primary Health Centers and school going children at ther school as well as awareness to local leaders and health workers in collaboration with local government . The program provides a comprehensive eye and ear examination at local level by a dedicated ophthalmic team.

School Screening Camps

Sight helps people to learn. Children can learn twice as much when they see clearly. With this motive, the BEH school screening team visit schools in Koshi Province on a regular basis and refer children found with refractive errors or problems equiring treatment to BEH.

Cataract Screening Camps

Cataract is the leading cause of blindness at today’s world where despite the increase effort to increase access to health care, other social determinants like financial status, livelihood, ignorance and lack of knowledge still act as a barrier. Cataract screening camp is thus conducted by BEH to overcome these barriers and prevent blindness to outmost possible.

People found with cataract or other operable diseases are taken to BEH for surgery free of cost. Patients requiring special examination and treatment are referred to BEH.

Surgical Camps

Surgical camp in hilly region reaches to the curative service at door step and is targeted to enhance people access to health service. People in scattered community of hilly region face difficulty to receive even primary eye care service, thus surgical camp approach of BEH facilitates those unreached populations by delivery tertiary care service to very needy population.

Diabetic Retinopthy Screening Camp

With rise in non-communicable diseases, there is increases cases of diabetic retinopathy. To screen and timely treat the cases, screening for DR is being done by BEH conducting a camp.
